I can never remember this. I'm putting it here so I'll know where to find the instructions. Just ignore if you're not interested.
Cedille: hit “option” “c” to get ç
Áigue: hit “option” “e” – then “e” again to get é
Grave: hit “option” “~” [tilde] let go, then “e” to get è
Circonflexe: hit “option” “i” let go, then “e” to get ê

Okay I can't find the option key...Where's the option key? on a keyboard. Thanks for this timely post. There was a call to type an accent mark over an e yesterday, so I just copied and pasted the name to honor the woman.

Michele–the info listed in the post is specific to a Mac. If you're using Windows, hold down your Alt key while sequentally pressing 0232 on the 10-key number pad. This produces the "e" with a grave.
There are "Alt codes" for everything, and you can find out what they are by going to Start Menu > Programs > Applications > System Tools > Character Map. (As you can imagine, this is a little-known feature but very handy.)

WOW! Thanks a lot for that 'how to make french accents' blog page! I was looking on Google and I couldn't find anything! It's probably because I use a Mac.
Oh, by the way, it wasn't useless. I always forget them too, so it was a great help!
